As of the date of this post, I am not affiliated with any sites, clubs, or creators mentioned in this post.

Drawing inspiration from various sources is a natural part of creativity. It’s true that creating something new often involves building upon existing ideas or adapting them in novel ways. Acknowledging and giving credit to those who have influenced your work is crucial for ethical and professional integrity. It shows respect for other creators and helps maintain a positive community. When you attribute ideas or designs to their originators, you contribute to a culture of mutual respect.

Social Media

Platforms like Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok are hubs of creativity where individuals and businesses showcase their work, share ideas, and inspire others. When you draw inspiration from or directly use someone else’s content or idea from these platforms, it’s important to give credit by mentioning their username, linking to their profile, or citing the source appropriately. This not only shows appreciation for their contribution but also helps your audience discover more great content creators.

Moreover, many creators on these platforms rely on their work for income, whether through sponsorships, ad revenue, or direct sales. Crediting them properly helps support their livelihood. In the ultimate quest for creativity and collaboration, giving credit where it’s due ensures a positive and supportive environment for all creators involved.

Clubs

There are a lot of options out there, from free online groups to exclusive clubs that require a membership fee. But here’s the thing: neither type is inherently better than the other. The key lies in finding what suits your individual needs and preferences.

Let’s dispel the notion that free clubs are inferior to those that charge a fee. Free clubs often provide a wealth of resources, community interaction, and inspiration without any financial commitment. They can be fantastic for casual hobbyists or those exploring new interests without wanting to invest money upfront.

On the other hand, fee-based clubs typically offer more structured content, exclusive materials, expert guidance, and sometimes even tangible benefits like discounted supplies or access to premium content. These clubs are ideal for individuals seeking a deeper level of engagement, specialized knowledge, or a more curated experience tailored to their specific interests.

I’ve personally explored both ends of the spectrum. Over time, I’ve joined various clubs, some free and others with a membership fee. However, my journey has taught me that the value of a club extends far beyond its price tag.

There have been instances where I joined free clubs but found myself drifting away because the content didn’t resonate with me or the community interaction was limited. It became clear that simply being free didn’t necessarily translate to fulfilling my creative needs.

Conversely, I am currently an enthusiastic member of “The Art of Home,” a club that charges a membership fee. What keeps me coming back month after month are the meticulously curated monthly project releases and captivating “block of the month” projects. The patterns they offer are not just instructions but wellsprings of inspiration for my own crafting endeavors. The investment in this club has proven worthwhile because it consistently delivers content that fuels my creativity and enhances my skills.

Websites

Websites have become virtual treasure troves where one can discover project instructions, creative ideas, tutorials, and so much more. As someone deeply immersed in the world of crafting, I’ve found that exploring these online resources can be rewarding.

When I think about the myriad of websites available, it’s truly astounding. There are platforms dedicated to every imaginable craft, from knitting and crochet to woodworking, painting, sewing, and beyond. Whether you’re a novice looking to learn basic techniques or an experienced crafter seeking advanced projects, there’s a website out there catering to your needs.

These sites often feature galleries showcasing completed projects, which serve as a springboard for my own creativity. I am inspired by the designs, color combinations, and techniques showcased by crafters around the globe. Many websites provide detailed project instructions and tutorials. These resources are invaluable for learning new skills or mastering techniques. I’ve personally honed my crafting abilities by following step-by-step guides and video tutorials found on these platforms.

Crafting websites also foster a sense of community among enthusiasts. Forums, comment sections, and social media integrations allow crafters to interact, share tips, ask questions, and celebrate each other’s achievements. This collaborative environment not only enhances the learning experience but also creates a supportive network of like-minded individuals passionate about their craft.

Summits

I’ve found that attending free summits is a fantastic way to dive deep into a world of creativity. These summits bring together a diverse array of classes, tutorials, and videos presented by groups of experts wanting to share knowledge on specific topics. Whether you’re into card-making, using cutting machines like Cricut, designing SVGs, crafting a beautiful home, exploring sublimation techniques, or perfecting your baking skills, there’s a summit out there waiting to inspire you. The best part? They’re usually offered at no cost, making high-quality education accessible to everyone with an internet connection.

You can purchase passes for these summits, which grant extended access beyond the scheduled event. I often opt for this with summits that I find particularly enjoyable or beneficial.

My Favorite Summits:

Brandi Mahon, owner of Stamp Me Some Love

Card Maker Success Summit

Cricut Crafting Adventure

Once you sign up for one, you will get invites to future ones.

I hope that you find inspiration everywhere you look!

A Little About Me: My Journey in Crafting and Life

Welcome to my corner of the internet! As I embark on this blogging adventure, I want to take a moment to introduce myself. I promise it’ll be interesting—at least I hope so!

I’m a, still young, woman navigating life with two adult sons and no grandchildren (yet!). By day, I work at a multi-campus university on the East Coast, where I train Financial Aid Advisors on the intricate dance of regulations, policies, and procedures.

Crafting has always been my escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. My passion began back in elementary school when I attended the Girls Club. From sewing to baking to art projects, those classes ignited a love for creativity that has stayed with me. As an adult, my trusty sewing machine and a treasure trove of craft supplies have been constant companions.

A game-changer in my crafting journey was when my fiancé gifted me a Cricut in 2017. Suddenly, I had the magical ability to create beautiful wedding décor, and the love for crafting grew exponentially. (Just to be clear, Cricut isn’t paying me to say this—maybe one day!)

My husband is my partner in crime, and I couldn’t be happier with the life we’ve built together since our marriage in 2018. We have an interesting backstory; we met as kids, drifted apart for nearly 18 years, and then found our way back to each other in 2016. It’s been a wonderful journey so far!

And then there are our fur-babies. My life wouldn’t be the same without them! I’ve had many dogs through the years, and while I’ve had to say goodbye to some, each has a special place in my heart. Right now, we have a Rottweiler and two adorable Pitt Bulls. They shower us with so much love—I often joke that their affection is the most aggressive thing about them. Just look at these sweet faces!

From left to right, we have Kaiser, Harley, and Chopper.

While showing off these beauties, I will also show you my grand-dog, Bear.

Now, isn’t he just adorable!

Another huge part of my heart belongs to my wonderful nieces and nephews. I can’t talk about them without showcasing the two youngest! Each of my sisters welcomed their third child after their older kids were already in middle or high school, making them the babies of the family right now.

Meet Everett, my youngest nephew and potentially the last new addition to the family (unless my brother has a surprise up his sleeve, HAHA)!

Then there’s my best buddy, Ryker. I adore this guy, and it warms my heart that my fur-babies love him too! Here’s Kaiser sharing a moment with him, plus a picture of Harley and Chopper for some extra cuteness.
